James E. Ukrop, Chairman of the Board

Jim Ukrop has been a powerful force for building community and providing opportunity throughout Virginia. Outside of business ventures such as Ukrop’s Supermarket, recently named one of the top 100 places to work in the country, Jim has served the Commonwealth with distinction. Currently serving on over ten community boards and four boards for the College of William and Mary, Jim was the founding chairman of the Virginia Performing Arts Foundation, helped revitalize Swansboro Elementary in Richmond, and chaired the Local Initiatives Support Coalition to raise funds for low income housing. Jim Ukrop’s name has become synonymous with service and excellence, and we are proud to count him as the Chairman of our Board of Directors.
