Voting Absentee Guide
Sometimes we are just too busy, or unable, to vote on election day. Luckily, the state of Virginia has a convenient option for fulfilling our civic duty through absentee voting!
There are several ways you can vote absentee, and all of which are easy as long you follow certain guidelines.
How to Request an Absentee Ballot
Go to your local registrar's office in-person and fill out an absentee request application.
Request an absentee application be mailed to you by contacting your local registrar's office or by completing an online application at the Virginia Department of Elections website.
Print out an absentee application, and mail the completed form to your local registrar.
Methods of Voting Absentee after Completing Application
Once your application is approved you will be sent (or given if making a request in-person) an absentee ballot. Here's how you vote with your ballot.
Return your absentee ballot to your local registrar in-person.
Send your absentee ballot to your local registrar by mail.
Important Deadlines for the Nov. 6th Midterm Elections:
The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is 5:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30th, 2018.
The last day to request an absentee ballot by appearing in-person is 5:00 PM, Saturday, November 3rd, 2018.
