VA21 Advocacy Guides
Active citizenship means being engaged beyond elections. Our advocacy guides helps readers navigate the political process at the state level so we can help our leaders address our most pressing challenges.
Whether your a lobbyist, community organizer, or just a concerned citizen, keeping up with current events is a crucial component of advocacy. It’s especially difficult to keep up with state legislation given the shear volume of bills that come through in a short amount of time. Luckily, the public can access a variety of online tools and resources that help demystify state politics and the policy-making process.
So for our first advocacy blog of this season, we present to you a guide for staying informed.
How does a bill become a law in Virginia, and is there anything citizens can do to be part of the process? Intern Devin Lanier and Director of Engagement Tim Cywinski answer both questions in the second installment of our State Politics Education series: "How (you can help) Bill become a law."
Virginia's General Assembly is more reactive to the concerns of average people than you may realize, and getting involved in the process is easier than it looks. Tim Cywinski writes part 1 of our state politics educational series designed to help everyday people understand Virginia's Government in a way that helps them make a difference.
