Meet Emily VA21's First Development Intern

Why did you decide to work for Virginia21?

I’ve always found the work Virginia21 does to be important because of the lack of interest many young people feel toward politics and government. Although more young people got involved in politics during this recent election cycle, I think there is still a lot of work to do. By energizing and advocating for young people, Virginia21 is providing for a stronger future.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing young people today?

One of the biggest challenges facing young people today is infiltrating the professional workforce. With older generations retiring later and more young people working toward college degrees, it is harder and more competitive to begin a career. Although that has lead many young people to become self-starters by creating their own companies, organizations, and career paths, it still leaves much to be desired in the professional world.
