A Big Step, HB1599 Passes Subcommittee
Yesterday the House Higher Education subcommittee unanimously passed HB1599 sponsored by Del. Phil Hamilton and endorsed by Virginia21. This bill seeks to expand access to an existing grant that provides affordability and accessibility to special needs and foster care students who are attending a Virginia community college. The legislation changes the current eligibility requirement from 12 credit hours a semester to 6 credit hours a semester.
Next up for this bill is the full House Education committee, which will likely hear the bill on Monday morning. Check back for details on the when and where and hopefully you can come join us!
